Finite Elemental Analysis Data (FEA)

Smithers Rapra have a wealth of experience in determining properties required for FEA modelling and can perform the following tests and supply the requisite raw data.

Uniaxial Tension (Tensile)

The test is carried out to BS ISO 37 using either type 1 (preferred) or type 2 test pieces.

Shear (Planar Tension) Testing

There is no published standard for this test, although the principles are identical to BS ISO 37. The essential difference to the standard tensile test lies in the geometry of the test piece used, which is a rectangular sheet 100±2mm wide by nominally 150mm long.

Biaxial Testing

Again, there is no published standard for this test, although the principles are identical to BS ISO 37.The essential difference to the standard tensile test lies in the geometry of the test piece used, see below.

Uniaxial Compression

The test is carried out to ISO 7743 (BS 903 Part A4) using either type 1 or type 2 test pieces.
