GOCarbonFibre 2018

9th - 11th October 2018

Smithers Rapra have been organising the world renowned Global Outlook for Carbon Fibre conferences in both Europe and North America for over 20 years. As the only conference focused 100% on carbon fibre, the conferences provide a unique global forum for carbon fibre manufacturers, composite industry executives, technologists and new entrants to receive a comprehensive update on the outlook for growth, supply and demand and recycling of carbon fibres.

Discussions at the conferences focus predominantly around end user applications, with insights from OEMs in aerospace, automotive, rail, sports equipment, marine, wind and more, alternative PAN and precursor applications, sustainable materials and methods, the role of recycling, novel approaches to composites manufacturing, new technologies for carbon fibre production, circular economy opportunities and much more.

Smithers Rapra entice the leading global carbon fibre players to hear the latest thoughts from the leaders in the business, as well as what they see as the challenges for the future providing attendees with a unique, objective view on the carbon fibre market.

2017 attendees and speakers included representatives from BMW, Airbus, Boeing, SGL Group, ELG Carbon Fibre, Faurecia, Toray, Honda, Volvo, Toyota, Michelman, Harper International, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and many more.

Pre-Conference Workshop: Recycling & Sustainability

Tuesday 9 October 2018 | 1.30pm - 5.30pm

This year's pre-conference workshop, taking place on Tuesday 9 October before the main conference, will focus on recycling and sustainability.

Experts from ELG Carbon Fibre, CETMA, CFK Valley Stade Recyling and more will lead the workshop, providing presentations on a variety of topics relating to recycling and sustainability.

The workshop aims to provide attendees with insights into the limits and opportunities of recycled carbon fibres in the composite material industry, and why sustainability in this industry is important.

Following on from the huge success of last year's event in Munich, this year's conference will again bring together carbon fibre and composites experts for two-days of learning, networking, discussion and debate.

New for this year, the programme features 4 separate breakout sessions covering different sectors including the automotive sector, wind power and marine sectors, the aerospace industry and building and infrastructure. Just some of the presentations you can expect from these sessions include:

  • Composites in future smart cities - Mikko Lassila, Product Business Owner - Telecomminications at Exel Composites PLC
  • New design and process for high performance structural parts by additive manufacturing - Bertrand Florentz, Technical Director at Hutchinson Aerospace and Industry
  • Scaling up automotive production processes - Greg Lipoczi, Business Development Manager at Renault-Nissan Consulting
  • The future growth of carbon fibre in the wind energy sector - Julian Sellier, Managing Director and Co-founder of STRUCTeam Ltd

Other presentation topics include market overviews, new trends and developments, innovation in carbon fibre and composites, sustainability, recycling and re-use, new processes and OEM applications, alternatives to PAN precursors, future trends and investments, and much more.
