(Akron, Ohio) - February 1, 2016 - Smithers Rapra, a world leader in rubber, plastics and composites testing, announced today the organization will present at the 2016 Tire Technology Expo February 16 – 18, 2016 in Hanover, Germany.
Bruce Lambillotte, general manager of Smithers Rapra’s Akron Laboratories and Tire Services, will present “Speed Ratings and Belt Overlays: A Materials Perspective” at the “Tire testing (in laboratory)” session on Thursday, February 18. In addition, Gary Crutchley, the company’s lead rubber and tire consultant in Europe, will moderate the “Tire production – future visions” session on Tuesday, February 16. For the full conference program agenda, visit http://www.tiretechnology-expo.com/conf_overview.php/.
Lambillotte’s presentation is based on data from Smithers Rapra’s analyses of over 300 tires, using that data to benchmark passenger tire belt overlay (cap piles) construction details. Lambillotte will then correlate this information to speed ratings and present findings regarding reinforcing materials used in tire belt overlays.
“Given the range of tires studied, the presentation will give a broad perspective on the construction of tire belt overlays in the industry today,” said Jim Popio, vice president, North America, Smithers Rapra. “With over 40 years in the tire industry, Bruce’s expertise in tire materials makes him an ideal choice to lead the discussion on this interesting topic.”
Lambillotte is responsible for analytical and physical properties testing services for Smithers Rapra, North America. He is also a senior technical consultant, managing product and process-specific technical consulting activities involving polymer products.
Crutchley possesses an extensive background in research and testing in the tire industry. He has held both rubber development and tire production roles over the last 24 years. In his role at Smithers Rapra, he guides failure diagnosis, material selection, process support, development, training and expert witness services for a wide range of industries.
Tire Technology Expo attendees can also visit the Smithers Rapra booth 3050 to learn about the company’s full range of capabilities and services offered through a global network of accredited tire testing laboratories. Smithers Rapra performs a wide variety of SAE, ASTM, ISO, UNECE and EC tests supporting raw material suppliers, tire manufacturers and OEMs.
Smithers Rapra is also the global market leader in producing tire industry reports, based on extensive in-house primary research and industry data that underpins its appraisal of existing market conditions and forecasting.
The company will launch two new reports at Tire Technology Expo 2016: The Future of Off the Road Tyres to 2020 and The Future of Tyre Raw Materials to 2021.
