Smithers Rapra to Host Open House at Expanded and Enhanced Product Testing Facility in Shawbury, UK

Smithers Rapra, a world leader in rubber, plastics and composites testing, announced today that it has opened its expanded and enhanced Product Testing facility at Smithers Shawbury site.

The facility specialises in the testing of hoses and components for fluid transfer systems   for clients in a variety of industries. The company will host clients and distinguished guests at an extended open house running through December 2017 and early 2018. 

“Following a total rebuild in 2017 and upgrading to the latest state of the art equipment and facilities, we are very excited to invite clients and other guests to our new Product Testing Laboratory in Shawbury,” said Sam Sheppard Fidler, Vice President and General Manager, Smithers Rapra/Smithers Pira Europe.

The expansion addresses growing client demand across the UK and mainland Europe for product life testing in the automotive, aerospace, industrial and energy sectors. The Shawbury facility will offer a range of product durability and performance testing services including (but not limited to):

  • Fixture Design to meet customer and specification testing requirements
  • Pressure, Vibration and Temperature
  • Environmental Aging and Exposure
  • Circulation of Diesel and Petrol

The new facility further enhances Smithers global product testing capability.

Leading the team in the expanded lab is Simon Hubbard, Director of Product Testing for Smithers Rapra UK. Hubbard has over 35 years of experience in the automotive industry including extensive development expertise with rubber and plastic materials and components.
