This standard is intended to define the basic operation procedures for a xenon arc test chamber which is used to simulate the weathering effects of sunlight, moisture and heat.
Xenon Arc exposure is intended to induce property changes of materials when exposed to certain weathering conditions including exposure to: direct (and indirect) sunlight, rain and moisture. The use of a control specimen is recommended for comparison when evaluating property changes in a material. While the standard describes the procedures for obtaining, measuring and controlling conditions of exposure, it does not specify the ideal exposure conditions for the material to be tested.
